Since each topic has its own particular set of rules, you need to know where to look for information before you start writing. The theme. The first aspect of an ielts essay is the theme of the essay. The theme can be a broader or a more specific concept. It can be based on the region, a particular author, a certain geographical area, the nature of the school syllabus, the history of learning or other issues. Theme-based essays are required by all students but even then, the theme should fit into the proper parameters of the its course. The theme has to relate to the syllabus but at the same time it should also be based on a local issue that is relevant to the student's personal life. Items. This is the second aspect of an ielts essay. The theme is important but it does not address the specific items that students need to address during the syllabus. The theme should provide a framework for all the items to be addressed. The topics in the syllabus should be fully addressed in the essay because they are taken as given. Subject matter. Unlike the theme, the subject matter is more of a personal focus. Some of the topics are listed as per the curriculum. Others are applicable to most students. Thus, it is important to know the subject that applies to you. When these two topics are combined in a good balance, the essay topics for IELTS will be successfully written.
